Important considerations
- Do not move your shoulder actively beyond cleared range without guidance.
- Avoid sleeping on the operated side unless your surgeon approves it.
- Stop using positions that cause sharp pain, throbbing, or incision pulling.
- Follow all sling and immobilization schedules from your surgical team.
How to use
- Place the pillow under your forearm and hand while sitting or lying as directed.
- Keep your elbow supported so the shoulder stays in a relaxed, neutral position.
- Adjust pillow height so you do not shrug your shoulder upward.
- When lying down, support the arm without twisting your trunk sharply.
- Use the pillow during rest periods and sleep if your care team recommends it.
- Remove or reposition if numbness or tingling increases in your hand.
Tips & tricks
- Wear your sling if prescribed, using the pillow as an added support—not a replacement unless told otherwise.
- Keep the pillow clean with a removable cover if available.
- Set up your chair and bed with pillows before you sit or lie down.
- Ask your PT to check your positioning at your first follow-up visits.
Good to know
- Elevating the forearm can reduce pulling on the shoulder during early healing.
- Many patients use this pillow for several weeks after rotator cuff or stabilization surgery.
- Comfortable support can make rest and sleep easier while restrictions are in place.
